About Analytic Flying

Analytic Flying is an independent blog focused on the Australian and global airline industry. As the name suggests, our content focusses on data analytics, utilising publicly available data to conduct economic and financial analysis on airlines and associated policy related areas including airports and competition policy.

We started Analytic Flying in 2023 to give us a platform to share our knowledge with fellow Avgeeks without the typical constraints of forums and social media. Having a blog allows us to take the time and space to conduct thorough analyses supported by data. For a more detailed manifesto, see our annual anniversary posts.

Analytic Flying unashamedly produces long form content, focusing on depth and quality. We don’t have a professional staff to churn out high frequency content like short form news or even thoroughly proof read articles. But we don’t think that that’s what you’re coming for!

While Analytic Flying isn’t a business most of our new content and an increasing amount of the back catalogue is behind a paywall. This is primarily to protect our content from being plagiarised and paraphrased by AI slop and content mills for monetisation. It also help us generate more frequent and regular high-quality content. Please see our subscription policy to understand if you require a paid subscription or whether you are eligible for a complimentary subscription.

Conflict of interest policy

All posts are unsigned with authors being allowed the freedom to write informative and provocative analyses using their professional knowledge and expertise. Maintaining anonymity allows them to contribute without constraints. This can generate potential conflicts of interest and we will endeavour to note them if they arise. None of the authors are employed at or have any direct financial interest in the companies they write on.

How do we ensure credibility?

All data used in an analysis is always sourced with detailed information where users can find and verify its authenticity. Publicly available data is used as much as possible. Where proprietary data is used, this is explicitly noted.

We try as much as possible to refrain from sharing opinion, and where we do we try to make this explicit. If you are concerned with the credibility or accuracy of data or analysis then please let us know so that we can follow-up and post a correction or update. If you don’t like the analysis or think there is more to the analysis then please let us know by commenting.

How to contact us?

Have any questions about our data, or want to challenge our analysis? Feel free to post a comment. But if you’d like to engage with us directly or write a blog, please feel free to reach out directly: admin@analyticflying.com
